NORTH CANTON, Ohio- Friday’s semifinals saw an upset as the No. 5 seed Malone defeated regular season champions and No.1 seeded Walsh. Ashland, the No. 2 seed, beat Hillsdale to advance to the championship.
Semifinal #1: #5 Malone 83, #1 Walsh 67
Malone’s Bo Myers and Justin Miller each poured in double-digit points to send the No. 5 seed to Saturday’s championship. Myers led all-scorers with 29 points, including five treys. Miller added 24 as he shot 9-15 from the field. The Pioneers converted 12 Cavalier turnovers to 18 points.
First-Team All-Conference and Elite 26 winner Garrison Keeslar led Walsh with 18 points and nine rebounds.
Semifinal #2: #2 Ashland 83, #3 Hillsdale 67
Brandon Haraway and Simon Wheeler led all-scorers with 22 points apiece as Ashland defeated No. 23 Hillsdale in the semifinals.
Both teams battled until the end as there were 10 total lead changes throughout the contest.
Jack Gohlke led the Chargers with 17 points, shooting 6-15 on the day.
