INDIANAPOLIS--The Great Midwest Athletes of the week for March 27, 2023 are based on student-athlete performance from March 20, 2023-March 26, 2023.

North Division
Pitcher
Brendan Beaver / Ashland University / So. / Pitcher / Bay City, Mich.
Brendan Beaver was credited for the Eagle’s win against Cedarville. In eight innings-pitched, Beaver only gave up one hit and allowed no runs. He walked one batter and threw 11 strikeouts. The Sophomore has the lowest ERA in the conference at 1.64 and is third in strikeouts at 42 on the year.

Jax Miller / Walsh University / Jr. / Outfield / Emsworth, Pa.
Miller led the Cavaliers to two victories over conference opponents in Tiffin and Trevecca Nazarene. Miller went 15-31 from the plate for a batting average of .488. He hit two doubles, one home run, and recorded six RBIs.

Michael Lesiecki / Ohio Dominican University/ Jr. / Pitcher / Uhrichville, Ohio
Lesiecki went 1-0 on the mound with a 0.00 ERA through seven innings-pitches. He gave up only three hits and struck-out a career-high eight batters in a complete game shutout against Lake Erie.
 
Player
Austin Adelman / University of Findlay / So. / Catcher / Willard, Ohio
Adelman was 6-9 from the plate for a batting average of .667, as the Oilers went 4-0 on the week, including a win over No. 21 UIndy. He scored six runs, hit two home runs, and had three RBIs.
 
Women’s Golf
Lisa Marie Schumacher / Tiffin University/ So. /Leipzig, Germany
Schumacher led the Dragons with a score of 69 in her final round, totaling 215 and landing her medalist honors at the Findlay Spring Invite. She recorded scores of 73,73,and 69, while also setting a new 54-hole program record by five strokes.

Holden Charboneau / Seton Hill University / So. / Defense / Naperville, Ill.
Holden Charboneau helped the Griffins secure two wins on the week as he led a defense that only gave up 12 goals in two games. Charboneau recorded three ground balls and caused three turnovers in victories over Malone and Molloy.
 
Offensive
Jeremy Sforzo / Seton Hill University / Sr. / Attack / Vail, Colo.
Jeremy Sforzo joins teammate Holden Charboneau as Seton Hill swept the men’s lacrosse honors this week. Sforzo tabbed three goals and seven assists for 11 total points for the Griffins. He currently ranks eighth in the conference in points per game at 4.00.

Defensive
Rachel Bornsetin / University of Findlay/ Sr. / Goalkeeper / Wading River, N.Y.
Goalie Rachel Bornstein led the Oilers to a 2-0 record on the week. She tabbed 15 saves and only 7.3 goals allowed per game for a save percentage of .536. Bornstein ranks second in the conference in saves per game at 9.67.

Danielle Dilorenzo / University of Findlay/ Sr. / Midfield / Poughkeepsie, N.Y.
Danielle Dilorenzo had a record-breaking week for the Oilers as she tallied 28 draw controls through two games. Against Lake Erie, Dilorenzo shattered the single-game program record for draw controls with 18. She also scored 13 goals and had three assists for the week.
 
Softball Pitcher
Hailey Leister/ Northwood University / Sr. / Pitcher / St. Louis, Mich.
Leister had an undefeated week (4-0) for the Timberwolves as she pitched 21 innings, including two shutouts. She totaled 16 strikeouts, and allowed only 12 hits while walking no batters. Leister dropped her season ERA to .98 through over 100 innings-pitched. In the Great Midwest, Leister ranks first in wins (13), shutouts (5), and opponent batting average (.177).
 
Softball Player
Hailey Holtman / Hillsdale College / Jr. / Infield / Liberty Township, Ohio
Hillsdale’s Hailey Holtman was selected as Softball Player of the week after recording a batting average of .643 (9-14). Holtman’s nine hits included two doubles, a triple, a home run, and four RBIs. She also scored four runs as the Chargers went 4-0.
 
STUNT
Lily Boldman / Ashland University / Jr. / Tumbler / Huron, Ohio.
Lily Boldman was named STUNT athlete of the week for the second-straight week. Boldman registered 61 points in a 20-2 win over Concordia Ann Arbor. In a 23-0 victory over Michigan, Boldman accounted for 54 points, putting her at a 57.5 average on the week.
 
Men’s Tennis
Brennan Cimpeanu / Hillsdale College / Jr. / Troy, Mich.
Cimpeanu won both matches at the No. 1 doubles position with partner Brian Hackman. The Troy, Mich. native also won two singles matches for an undefeated week.
 
Women’s Tennis
Sarah Hackman / Hillsdale College / Sr. /Island Lake, Mich.
Hackman registered a perfect 4-0 week with two wins at No. 1 doubles over Ursuline (6-1) and Walsh (6-1). She also had two victories at the No. 1 singles position.
 
Men’s Field
Matthew Lamb / Tiffin University / Sr. / Throws / Sandusky, Ohio
Tiffin’s Matthew Lamb had a successful weekend at the Raleigh Relays event. Lamb placed sixth in the discus and hit a provisional mark of 51.00m. He also finished 14th in the shot put with a mark of 16.44m.
 
Men’s Track
Josh Jones / Northwood University / So. / Distance / Harrison, Mich.
Jones had an outstanding performance for the Timberwolves as he set a personal record in the 1,500m run with a time of 3:49.71 at the Raleigh Relays meet. Jones’ time puts him at third in program history and ranks as the ninth-best performance in Division II to date. Jones then went on to clear another provisional mark in the 800m run, finishing with a time of 1:51.08, which is currently seventh best in D2.
 
Women’s Field
Kelsey Kinsley / Ashland University / So. / Throws/ North Canton, Ohio
Sophomore Kelsey Kinsley achieved two provisional marks over the weekend. She finished fourth in the hammer throw with a mark of 52.71m. On Saturday, Kinsley earned a third-place finish in the shot put with a 14.26m mark.
 
Women’s Track
Audrianna Enns / Cedarville University / Fr. / Distance /Hart, Mich.
Audrianna Enns placed helped the Yellow Jackets earn runner-up status at their home meet. Enns finished first of 57 in the 1,500 meter race with a time of 4:49.73.
