INDIANAPOLIS—The Women’s Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced their national awards for the 2022-23 season. Ashland Head Coach Kari Pickens was recognized as the Division II Coach of the Year, while Annie Roshak was named to the coach’s All-America team.
Kari Pickens is in her fifth year as Ashland’s head coach and has led the Eagles to a perfect 34-0 record this season and their second consecutive Great Midwest regular season and tournament title. Most recently, Pickens and her team earned the 2023 Midwest Regional title. Pickens produced 2022-23 Great Midwest Player of the Year in Annie Roshak, who also earned First-Team All-American honors.
Roshak ranks third in the nation and is first in the conference in FG% at .639. Roshak averages 14.1 points and 5.4 rebounds per contest for the No. 1 Eagles.
Ashland advanced to the Elite Eight Monday after winning the region. The Eagle are set to face UT Tyler Wednesday, March 20 in St. Joseph, MO.
