INDIANAPOLIS- The Great Midwest and its 13 members celebrated DII Day on Feb. 22, 2023. The day recognizes and celebrates student-athletes and the impact they have on their campuses and community.
 
The NCAA initiative encourages institutions to participate in community engagement activities to highlight the mission of the Division II athlete and show that passion goes beyond athletics. 
 
Throughout the day, Great Midwest institutions have highlighted how they have celebrated DII Day through social media content using the hashtag #D2Day.

To help celebrate the day, the conference staff spent the morning volunteering at a local foodbank that benefits the greater Indianapolis area. In collaboration with other groups, the staff packaged over 56 fresh meal kits that will be distributed to local families. The 56 kits equates to 4,498 meals and 455 families fed. 

"It's important for our staff and institutions take the time to celebrate what it means to be a Division II member", said conference Comissioner Tom Daegar. "We hope to reflect the mission of Division II and positively impact our community while doing so." 

DII Day, in its second year, has become an annual event celebrated each year on Feb. 22 (2/22).
