INDIANAPOLIS — The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) and the City of Akron have announced Firestone Stadium as the host site for the 2024 G-MAC Softball Championship.

The 2024 G-MAC Softball Championship is set to take place on May 1-4, 2024.

“We are excited Akron and Firestone Stadium will serve as the host site this spring to crown our Softball Tournament Champion” said Great Midwest Commissioner Tom Daeger.  “It is rare to find a venue that provides a stadium feel in this region for a collegiate softball championship game, and we look forward to celebrating the culmination of the 2024 softball season in such a first-rate ballpark.”

?The 4,756-seat venue was recently renovated this past June, adding upgraded restrooms, concessions, heating, ventilation, air conditioning, LED lighting, and a perimeter fence. One of the largest renovations came with the installation of two new turf fields. The updates totaled $1.47 million.

Firestone Stadium was dedicated to the founder of Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, Harvey S. Firestone, in July of 1925. The property was owned and operated by the Firestone company until it was donated to the City of Akron in 1988.
