INDIANAPOLIS- The Great Midwest Athletes of the week for December 4th, 2023 are based on student-athlete performance from November 27th, 2023- December 3rd, 2023.
 
 
Men’s Basketball
Jalen Page / Trevecca Nazarene University / Jr. / Guard / Murfreesboro, Tenn.
Trevecca’s Jalen Page earned player of the week for the second consecutive week after fueling the Trojans to a 2-0 start in conference play. Page posted a stat line of 21 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists and 2.5 steals per game. He was 14-24 (.583) from the field, 6-9 (.670) from three, and 8-9 (.890) from the foul line. The Murfreesboro, Tennessee native ranks second in the league in scoring, averaging 20.3 points per game.
 
Women’s Basketball
Corina Conley / Kentucky Wesleyan College / Sr. / Guard / Englewood, Ohio
Corina Conley averaged a double-double on the week and helped the Panthers improve to 5-1 this season. In a win over Illinois-Springfield, Conley scored a career-high 26 points while hauling 13 boards. She went on to lead KWC to a conference victory over Findlay with 15 points, eight rebounds, and four steals. For the week, Conley shot 12-21 (.571) from the field and was 4-5 (.800) from three. She is third in the league in scoring with 16.7 points per game.
 
Men’s Bowling
Cole Arsenault / Thomas More University / Jr. / Huntsville, Ala.
Arsenault led the Saints, placing second overall and knocking down 1,150 pins over 5 games in the OBC Event 3. He averaged a score of 230 at the event. At the Roto Grip Raider Classic, he finished 16th by knocking down a total of 1,034 pins for an average score of 206.8 through five games.
 
Women’s Bowling
Maycie Merritt / Thomas More University / Sr. / Cincinnati, Ohio
Thomas More’s Maycie Merritt earned Bowler of the Month honors after an impressive month competing at the Ohio Bowling Conference and Roto Grip Raider Classic. At OBC, she led the Saints and placed 27th individually, knocking down 826 pins over five games for an average score of 165. Merritt went on to place 33rd at the Roto Grip Raider Classic with an average of 173. Her score of 173 consisted of 865 pins over five games.
 
Men’s Indoor Field
Ben Haas / Hillsdale College / So. / Weight Throw / Clarkston, Mich.
Haas opened up the 2023-24 indoor season with an NCAA provisional mark in the weight throw. His mark is the furthest this season at the Division II level at 20.39 meters. Haas’ throw was good for a first place finish at the Oiler Open. He then went on to place sixth in the shot put with a 15.18 meter mark.
 
Men’s Indoor Track
D.J. Duncan / Ashland University / Jr. / Hurdles / Mansfield, Ohio
Duncan and the Eagles competed at the YSU icebreaker over the weekend, where he placed second in the 60-meter hurdles in a field of Division I athletes. Duncan’s time of 7.93 seconds ranks No. 1 in Division II to date.
 
Women’s Indoor Field
Averi Parker / Hillsdale College / Sr. / Shot Put / Young America, Ind.
Hillsdale’s Averi Parker won the shot put competition at the Oiler Open. Parker threw a personal best throw of 15.18 meters, which qualifies as an NCAA provisional mark and is the second-best throw in the nation. She went on to earn a  second place finish in the weight throw with another NCAA provisional mark of 17.86 meters, ranking as third in the country.
 
Women’s Indoor Track
Jordan Taylor / University of Findlay / Sr. / Loudonville, Ohio
Findlay’s Jordan Taylor took home the gold in two events at the Oiler Open. She placed first in the 60m dash with a time of 7.50 and the 200m dash with a 24.78 time. Both of Taylor’s time qualify as NCAA provisional marks.
 
Men’s Swimming & Diving
Tim Stollings / University of Findlay / Gr. / Pritchard, W.V.
Stollings had a record-breaking weekend at the Calvin Winter Invitational. He won the 100 back with a D2 automatic qualifying time of 46.18. His time set a new program and Great Midwest record in the event and ranks 8th-best all-time in Division II. Stollings went on to take home the gold in the 100 butterfly (46.79) and the 200 medley relay (1:25.78). He earned runner-up status in the 50 free (20.13) and 400 medley relay (3:12.59).
 
Women’s Swimming & Diving
Katie Susi / University of Findlay / Sr. / Kirtland, Ohio
Findlay’s Katie Susi set two individual records at the Calvin Winter Invite, winning the 50 breast (29.74), 100 breast (1:02.77), and 200 breast (2:16.01). Her 200 breaststroke time set a school record and qualified as a D2 B standard time. Susi’s 100 breast time of 1:02.77 is a personal best and also a D2 B standard time.  
 
Wrestling
Christian Small / Lake Erie College / Sr. / 149 lbs. / Canton, GA.
Lake Erie’s Christian Small helped lead the No. 6 ranked Storm to a 3-0 dual record on the week in a field of nationally-ranked opponents in Mercyhurst and Gannon. Individually, Small went 2-0 with a major decision victory over the No. 8 wrestler in the 149 lbs. weight class. His other win included a pin victory (2:06) against Mercyhurst.
