Ohio Dominican's Miller-Garrett Voted D2CCA Defensive Player of the Year

INDIANAPOLIS—The Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) released the 2023 football Regional teams Thursday morning. The Great Midwest was well-represented as Ohio Dominican’s Eddie Miller-Garrett headlined awards as the Defensive Player of the Year for Super Region 1.
 
Miller-Garrett was one of the nation’s top defensive lineman at the Division II level during the 2023 season. He not only led the G-MAC, but also led all of Division two in tackles for loss with 23 this season. 18 of his 23 tackles for loss were solo. Miller-Garrett also led the league in sacks, nearly averaging one more game, totaling 10.5 this season. The senior earned a share of Great Midwest Player of the Year honors after totaling 60 tackles, two forced fumbles, 17 QB hurries, and one fumble recovery. In his four-year career, Miller-Garrett leads the ODU football program in tackles for loss (52.0) and is second in sacks (24.5).
 
In addition to Miller-Garrett, the Great Midwest landed 12 additional student-athletes on the all-region teams. A full list of honorees can be found below.
