Men’s Basketball
Peter Kalthoff / Hillsdale College / Sr. / Forward / Hillsdale, Mich.
Hillsdale’s Peter Kalthoff has been named the Great Midwest Men’s Basketball Athlete of the week for the second time this season. Through two games, Kalthoff averaged 19.5 points and shot 53.8% from the field. He grabbed an average of 7.5 rebounds in two victories for the No. 11 ranked Chargers.
Women’s Basketball
Abby Matalavage / Lake Erie College/ Sr. / Forward / Westlake, Ohio
Abby Matalavage averaged 27.0 points through two games as she was 22 of 34 from the field at 64.7%. She recorded a career-high 33 points against Kentucky Wesleyan, which is the third-highest points scored in a single game this season. In a 67-64 win over Trevecca, Matalavage tabbed a double-double with 21 points and 10 rebounds for the Storm.
Men’s Bowling
Seth Koloski / Kentucky Wesleyan College / Jr. / Dayton, Ohio
Seth Koloski has been named the Great Midwest Bowler of the Month after impressive performances during the month of January. He placed 25
th out of 469 competitors at the Midwest Classic. Koloski bowled a five-game scored of 1,105, including game-highs of 252 and 243. In Louisville, he finished fourth out of 206 bowlers, where he bowled five straight games of 215 or better to finish with 1,197 pins. For the month, he averaged 239.4 per game.
Women’s Bowling
Alicia Yacono / Walsh University/ Sr. / Massilon, Ohio
Aliciia Yacono had a successful month for the Cavaliers. She ended January with a fourth-place finish at the Red Flash Invite, hosted by St. Francis University. Yacono had 960 total pinfalls and bowled an average 192.0 over five games.
Men’s Indoor Field
Jacob Michael / University of Findlay / Sr. / Pole Vault / Elida, Ohio
Findlay’s Jacob Michael earned a first-place finish in the Pole Vault at the Penn State National Invite. Michael recorded a mark of 4.95 m, which is an NCAA Provisional and 11
th best in Division II this season.
Men’s Indoor Track
Dillan Haviland / Northwood University / Sr. / Distance / St. Johns, Mich.
Dillan Haviland finished first in the 3000m event with a time of 8:02.40. His time set a personal, Northwood, Ryder Center Fieldhouse, and Great Midwest record. Haviland beat the Ryder Center record by nine seconds and currently has the sixth-best time for the 3000m in Division II to date.
Women’s Indoor Field
Kelsey Hartstock / Walsh University/ So. / Pole Vault / Warsaw, Ohio
Kelsey Hartstock earned a third-place finish in the pole vault at the Penn State National Invite. She tied her season best at 4.10 meters, which is first in the nation at the Division II level.
Women’s Indoor Track
Kya Epps / University of Findlay / Sr. / Sprints / Akron, Ohio.53
Epps set a new provisional time in the 60m at the Penn State National Open. She registered a time of 7.57. Epps also set a new provisional time in the 200 with a time of 25.53.
