SAN ANTONIO, Tex. - Cedarville received runner-up Division II 2023 Award of Excellence honors for its Yellow Jacket Virtual Reading Program. The school will receive $1,250 to use toward future community engagement efforts. Cedarville implemented the program in August 2020 to stay engaged with its community during the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. This program has continued, and this past fall, 57 teachers from 10 schools registered their classes to participate in the eight-week virtual reading series. In addition, 265 books were donated to 11 classrooms. 

Each year, the national Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee selects the Award of Excellence winner based on actions over the past year that exemplify the Division II philosophy, community engagement and student-athlete leadership.

The Yellow Jackets were annouced as the second place finishers behind MSU Moorhead during the division's business session Saturday at the NCAA Convention in San Antonio.
