Down to just baseball left playing for the academic year, Hillsdale's Aidan Brewer and Ashland's Marshall Leishman are the final Great Midwest Athletic Conference Athletes of the Week. Brewer is the player of the week and Leishman the pitcher for the period ending May 8.

Brewer, a sophomore infielder from Dexter, Michigan, went 7-for-15 with two doubles, four runs and five stolen bases to help the Chargers to a 3-1 week. Brewer ranks in the conference's top 10 in most major offensive categories and leads the league with a .435 batting average. He stands in the top 20 nationally in batting average, slugging percentage and hits.

Leishman, a freshman lefty from Canada, was the week's top pitcher in just his second career start. He tossed seven scoreless innings and allowed just five baserunners and struck out five to help Ashland to a win over Kentucky Wesleyan. The series split with KWC allowed AU to claim the No. 2 seed in this week's Great Midwest Baseball Championship.
