Trevor Bassitt is a national champion again. The standout from Ashland won the 400m hurdles for his 10th collegiate national title and athletes from Great Midwest schools earned All-American honors 28 times at the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend.
In the team standings, Bassitt helped Ashland to a fifth-place finish with 34 points. Findlay, which was the men's outdoor team champion, tied for 29th. Tiffin placed 12th in the women's standings with 19 points and Findlay scored 13 to place 21st.
Ashland's men's team had two relay teams in the top four, which Bassitt anchoring a fourth-plae 4x400 team that won the prelim. AU's 4x100 team was a national runner-up. In all, G-MAC entries registered four national runner-up performances: Walsh's Alexa Leppelmeier win the steeplechase, Findlay's Austin Combs in the hammer throw and Tiffin's Mercedeez Francis in the women's high jump.
The Great Midwest totaled 10 entries in the top four among its 28 All-Americans.
Bassitt, recently the 2022 Great Midwest Male Collegiate Achievement Award winner, concludes his Ashland career with the following national championships:
