Ashland's Bassitt Earns Collegiate Achievement Award

Perhaps the top track athlete in the nation, Ashland's Trevor Bassitt has earned the Great Midwest Athletic Conference's highest male honor. Bassitt is  the 2022 Great Midwest Collegiate Achievement Award winner and will be recognized at the conference's annual awards banquet Tuesday, May 24.

Bassitt, from Bluffton, Ohio, stood during his college career among the top track athletes in the nation. He won five individual national championship and four relay national titles in his illustrious career. A 19-time All-American and the high scorer in the 2022 NCAA Indoor Track & Field National Championships meet, he has been a conference athlete of the year in two different conference, regional athlete of the year and will conclude his career as a three-time Academic All-American.

For his efforts at Ashland, he was put on the 2022 watch list for The Bowerman, which goes to the most outstanding male and female track & field athletes in the nation. Bassitt has also been a force in international competition, winning silver in the 400m at the 2022 IAAF World Championships and he was 400m champion at the 2022 USATF Indoor Championships.

Bassitt graduated from Ashland in 2021 with a sports management degree and also earned his MBA.

The Great Midwest Athletic Conference annually honors a male and a female outgoing senior student-athlete with the Collegiate Achievement Award. This award is based on an individual’s academic excellence, athletic achievements, character, leadership and engagement within the community and conference. The 2021-22 academic year represents the eighth annual presentation of the award and is the highest honor a Great Midwest student-athlete can receive.
