The University of Findlay, on the strength of eight championships, won the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Presidents Cup for the 2021-22 academic year. The Oilers totaled 166.5 points and were either champion or runner-up in 12 different championships.
Findlay's year was highlighted by the school's first national championship in women's golf. At the G-MAC Women's Golf Championship, UF won stroke play by 39 shots and then battled for a tie with Tiffin in the medal match final round. UF had the tie-breaker to claim the title, and then went on to win by 27 shots at the NCAA Regional before going on a run in the championship final and finishing with the title.
Beyond a historic golf season, Findlay also won three of the conference's four track & field championships. The Oilers swept the indoor track championships and then won the men's outdoor title. UF posted a 6-1 league record to claim the football regular season and also outpaced everyone in men's swimming & diving. Very competitive seasons at the top in both men's and women's tennis saw the Oilers in the mix for those championships as well.
In its first year as a member of the Great Midwest, Ashland University had a strong 2021-22 showing by placing second in the cup standings with 138.5 points. AU won three championships (women's soccer, wrestling, women's basketball) and placed second in four others. Walsh and Tiffin placed third and fourth, respectively.
The scoring is based on performance in the regular for sports that play a team schedule and for championship results for sports that have individual components that contribute to a team score. The entire Great Midwest Presidents Cup standings can be found below.
