Twelve standout student-athletes from eight different member institutions are this week's Great Midwest Athletic Conference athletes of the week for the period April 18-April 24.
Below is a recap of each award winner and a complete list of this week's honorees.
Baseball Player of the Week
Braden Odom - Trevecca Nazarene / Sr. / Chesterfield, Indiana
Odom batted .391 with four home runs, eight RBIs and he scored 10 runs for the Trojans last week. Odom, who has 13 home runs over the last 13 games, broke TNU's single-season record for homers with 21. He also hit a triple and stole three bases and ended the week with a .462 on-base percentage.
Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Michael Boswell - Tiffin / Sr. / Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania
Boswell is a repeat winner after throwing a shutout against Kentucky Wesleyan. He scattered five hits and struck out nine while earning his 25th career win. Tiffin went 3-1 on the week and owns a 3.0 game lead in the conference standings.
Softball Player of the Week
Megan Demler - Findlay / Sr. / Wapakoneta, Ohio
Demler is a repeat winner after a standout week leading UF to a 3-1 record. At the plate, Demler hit 8-for-15 (.533) with a homer, seven runs and six RBIs. In the circle, she went 2-0 and struck out 19 over 12 innings. In the process, she became Findlay's all-time career strikeouts leader.
Softball Pitcher of the Week
Claire Feldkamp - Tiffin / Soph. / Perrysburg, Ohio
Feldkamp helped Tiffin to a 4-0 week last week, going 2-0 in the circle with two complete games and 15 strikeouts. She fashioned a 1.38 ERA over 13 innings and held opponents to a .180 batting average.
Men's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Sully Dowling - Walsh / Sr. / Germantown, Maryland
Dowling totaled five points (4 goals, 1 assist) and three ground balls in a 14-2 win over Wheeling.
Men's Lacrosse Defender of the Week
Patrick Cuddihy - Walsh / Sr. / Eden, New York
Cuddihy made 11 saves and got the win in Walsh's 14-2 win over Wheeling.
Women's Lacrosse Player of the Week
Hannah McFeeters - Walsh / Sr. / Sunbury, Ohio
McFeeters totaled 13 points (8 goals, 5 assists) as Walsh collected wins over Findlay and Tiffin. She also had 10 ground balls and 10 draw controls for WU, which took over first place in the conference standings.
Women's Lacrosse Defender of the Week
Kathleen Mendenhall - Walsh / Soph. / North Canton, Ohio
Mendenhall mad 16 saves with a .500 saves percentage in Walsh's wins over Findlay and Tiffin.
Men's Outdoor Track Running Athlete of the Week
Sean Fagan - Hillsdale / Soph. / North Scituate, Rhode Island
Fagan registered two NCAA provisional qualifying times, taking third in the 110m hurdles (14.45) and second in the 400m hurdles (53.12) at Oakland's Leigh Invite.
Men's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Austin Combs - Findlay / Grad / Findlay, Ohio
Combs won the hammer throw at Jesse Owens meet hosted by Ohio State, tossing a mark of 65.33m. That performance was almost 4 meters clear of the runner-up. Combs also took 10th in the discus with a 45.87m throw.
Women's Outdoor Track Running Athlete of the Week
Bethany Sholl - Cedarville / Sr. / Scarborough, Maine
Sholl set a school record with a time of 16:57.32 in the 5K, placing third of 30 runners at the Jesse Owens meet. It was the first sub-17 run in school history and met the NCAA II provisional mark.
Women's Outdoor Field Athlete of the Week
Savannah Amato - Findlay / Sr. / Delaware, Ohio
Amato set an all-time conference record with a 4.27m mark in the pole vault at a meet hosted by Grand Valley State. It was the best mark in the nation and 8th-best in NCAA Division II history.
