LEXINGTON, Kentucky - The two top seeds and nationally-ranked women's golf teams in the Great Midwest held serve Monday at the conference championship at a cold and wet UK Big Blue in Lexington. Findlay, ranked 7th in the country, and 55th-ranked Tiffin built sizable leads over 36 holes to position themselves for a final showdown on Tuesday.
Findlay (294-304=598 (+22)), the heavy favorite, built a large lead and sits in first place by 34 shots. Tiffin (313-319=632 (+56)) is second and 35 shots ahead of third-place Ashland (+91).
The Oilers placed all five of their players in the top six of the 45-player field. Gabby Woods (147, +3) is the leader, with Kristina Kniesly one shot back. Tiffin was led by Amanda Johansson (156, +9), who was tied for third overall. Of the eight players who shot less than 160 on the day, seven play for Findlay and Tiffin.
Walsh's Madison Ardelean (156, +14) and Trevecca Nazarene's Anna Chew (159, +17) finished the day in the top 10.
