INDIANAPOLIS--The Great Midwest Athletes of the week for November 21, 2022 are based on student-athlete performance from November 15, 2022-November 20, 2022.
 
Men’s Basketball
Bo Myers/ Malone University / Sr. / Forward / Rockbridge, Ohio
Bo Myers was selected as the Great Midwest Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week after posting an impressive stat line in games against Emory & Henry and Lenoir-Rhyne. In a win over Emory & Henry College, Myers poured in 15 points as he shot five-of-nine from the field. He also grabbed a team-high seven rebounds. In a one-point loss against Lenoir-Rhyne, Bo Myers totaled a career-high 40 points for the Pioneers, including seven three-pointers. Myers also had 12 rebounds for his second double-double of the season.
 
Women’s Basketball
Alexis  Hutchinson/ Malone University / Sr. / Guard / Centerville, Ohio
Hutchinson helped the Pioneers improve to 3-1 on the year with wins over Seton Hill and Pitt-Johnstown. The senior guard averaged 18 points through two games. Against Seton Hill, Hutchinson posted a stat line of 15 points, five assists, and three rebounds. She had 21 points, 11 rebounds, and dished out eight assists in a 96-56 victory over Pitt-Johnstown. Hutchinson ranks second in the league in assists per game at 5.0 and third in scoring with 20.0 points per game.
 
Men’s Swimming & Diving
Avi Macias/ Malone University / So. / Arlington, Texas
The Arlington, Texas native placed first in the 200 yard butterfly with a time of 2:02.88 and second in the 400 yard freestyle with a 3:29.80 time. Macias was also a member of the second-place 200 yard freestyle relay that registered a time of 3:29.80. Overall, the Pioneers placed second in their home invitational.
 
Women’s Swimming & Diving
Marie Taylor/ Hillsdale College / Sr. / Austin, Texas
Marie Taylor is this week’s Women’s Swimming & Diving Athlete of the week. Taylor had a trio of first-place finishes and was also a member of the 400 medley relay that broke the school record with a time of 3:50.00. She recorded NCAA B-cut times in the 100 freestyle (52.13) and 50 freestyle (23.84).
 
Wrestling
Hunter Reed/ University of Findlay / Sr. / Columbia City, Ind.
Findlay’s Hunter Reed  was a top finisher at the Findlay Open. He won the 174 pound bracket and was 4-0 on the day. Reed’s wins included a pin, a tech fall, and a major decision.
