2022 Women's Soccer All-Conference Teams Announced

CEDARVILLE, Ohio-  The final four teams left in the bracket are preparing to continue their journey through the postseason as the Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer All-Conference Team and individual award winners were announced on Thursday afternoon.
 
The league’s head coaches voted student-athletes to either first team, second team, or third team in addition to five individual awards.
 
Jonathan Meade was voted this year’s Coach of the Year after leading the Yellow Jackets to a regular season championship. They finished the regular season with a conference record of 13-1 and are ranked No. 13 in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
 
The Yellow Jackets are celebrated with a handful of individual awards including Goalkeeper of the Year and Freshman of the Year. Brooke Ackley was voted Goalkeeper of the Year for the second consecutive season. Ackley holds a Goals Against Average of .643 through 18 games. The Worthington, Ohio native also ranks second in the Great Midwest in shutouts with six on the year. Ackley’s performance also landed her a spot on the First-Team All-Conference team. Sadie Lenc was named this year’s 2022 Freshman of the Year. Lenc has totaled 1,244 minutes and appeared in 16 games during her first collegiate season. She made an immediate impact on a defense that had the league’s lowest Goals Against Average at .667 and only allowed 12 goals this season.
 
Ashland is the No. 2 seed and earned a bye in the Great Midwest Tournament. Fifth year defender Rylie Howman was named the Defensive Player of the Year and joins teammates Bailey Clark, McKinley Mendenhall, and Maddy Grabowski as First-Team selections. Howman led a dominant defense that ranked second in the Great Midwest in Goals Against Average at .83. The Eagles have only allowed 15 goals through 18 games. Grabowski joins Howman as a First-Team defender. She has appeared and started in all 18 games and also dished out three assists on the year. First-Team forwards Bailey Clark and McKinley Mendenhall helped power a dominant Ashland offense. Clark has registered eight goals, including five game-winners. Mendenhall leads the Great Midwest in assists with 13 on the year. She ranks second in the conference in points with 39 on the season. Ashland is set to play Walsh University in the semifinals.
 
Kristen Dickison from Tiffin University is the Offensive Player of the Year. Dickison had a record-breaking season for the Dragons as she finished the season with a league-high 19 goals. She set several new Division II records for Tiffin including career goals and points. On a national level, Dickison ranks third in game-winning goals, fifth in goals per game and total points, and eighth in points per game.
 
Findlay is slotted at the No. 4 seed with a conference record of 8-4-3. The Oilers advanced to the semifinals after defeating Trevecca Nazarene by a score of 4-2. Coaches voted Ellie Tischler as a First-Team All-Conference Midfielder. Tischler leads the Oilers in goals scored with eight on the year. She has collected 17 points through 18 games. Findlay finds themselves at No. 7 in the Midwest Region with an overall record of 10-5-3.
 
Brooke Honeycutt and Abbie Fowler represent newcomers Northwood University as members of the All-Conference First-Team. Both Honeycutt and Fowler appeared and started in all 19 games for the Timberwolves. Abbie Fowler, who was selected as a First-Team midfielder, led the team in goals with 11 on the year. She also registered three assists for 25 points this season. Forward Brooke Honeycutt was not far behind with 10 goals. Honeycutt secured a handful of wins for Northwood as she led the team with four game-winning-goals. Northwood finished the regular season 10-5-3 before falling to Walsh University in the quarterfinals of the Great Midwest Tournament. The NCAA has the Timberwolves slotted at No. 9 in the Midwest Region and will look to get an at-large bid in the national tournament.
 
The Trojans from Trevecca Nazarene finished the regular season with an overall record of 9-6-4. Abbigail Legg was voted a First-Team All-Conference defender. Legg appeared in 15 games for the Trojans and registered five points including one goal and three assists. Makenna Schlosser was selected a First-Team All-Conference Midfielder. Schlosser tallied five goals and five assists through all 19 games. She ended the season with a .568 shots on goal percentage.
 
The sport’s Elite 26 Award winner was Findlay’s Nikki Schuster, who is an Early Childhood Education major. The Elite 26 Award recognizes the true essence of the student-athlete at the conference championship level in his or her sport while also achieving the highest academic standard among his or peers. Schuster had the highest qualifying GPA from teams that qualified for the conference tournament as the Oilers were seeded at No. 4.
 
The semifinal round will kickoff at 4:30 P.M. ET with No. 2 Ashland facing the No. 6 seeded Walsh University. No. 1 Cedarville vs. No. 4 Findlay is set to follow at 7:00 P.M. ET. The winners of both matches will play in the Championship on Saturday, Nov. 5th at 4:30 P.M.
