ASHLAND, Ohio—On their home field in the regular season finale, the Eagles from Ashland University were crowned regular season Great Midwest football Champions by defeating the Kentucky Wesleyan Panthers on Saturday, 41-10.
This is Ashland’s first Great Midwest football Championship since officially joining the conference during the 2021-2022 school year.
In 2022, it is Ashland’s turn to celebrate after finishing with a 7-1 conference record.
Ashland scored on the opening drive as they registered 59 yards in 11 plays. Senior Austin Brenner accounted for five touchdowns as he was 10-14 on the day. Larry Martin led the game in rushing with 138 yards on 18 carries.
The Eagle defense held the Panthers to 243 yards on the day and only allowed one touchdown.
The Eagles, who are ranked second in Super Region One, will now await the NCAA Selection Show on Sunday night at 5 P.M. ET to learn of their postseason fate.
