Ashland Jumps to No. 6 in AFCA Poll

10.3.22

WACO, TEX. – Ashland football is up to No. 6 in the latest American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Division II Coaches’ Poll released Monday.

The Eagles climb in the rankings for the second consecutive week moving up three spots from No. 9 after an impressive 56-17 win against league-foe Northwood on Saturday at home. That win moves the Eagles to 2-0 in Great Midwest play.

Ashland started the season outside the Top 25 but a win over Notre Dame in its season opener moved the Eagles from receiving votes to No. 20 in the AFCA’s Week 1 Poll. Now, with a 4-0 record through five weeks, the Eagles are knocking on the door of the top five.

This is Ashland’s highest ranking in the AFCA poll since 2016. The Eagles are the only Great Midwest team represented in the poll this week.

Ashland will return to action Saturday with a trip to North Canton to take on Walsh.
