INDIANAPOLIS - The Great Midwest will kick off its sixth championship season of swimming & diving in conjunction with the Moutian East Conference in 2022-23. Hillsdale and Findlay will look to repeat as conference champions.
    
The Hillsdale women will look to capture their fourth straight title this season. Under 2021-22 Coach of the Year Kurt Kirner, the Chargers return Freshman of the year in Elise Mason. Mason placed in the top 40 at the national meet in the 500 free, 1000 free, and the mile. Hillsdale got an early start to its season on Oct. 8 with dual victories over Davenport and Indiana Wesleyan. 
    
Findlay and Ashland both finished in the top three of last year’s championship meet. Finishing in second place, Findlay scored 1544.5 points. The Oilers return six First-Team All-Conference swimmers, including Macy May who won the 2022 200 medley relay. Ashland placed third and returns First-Team All-Conference athlete in Abby Locke. The Oilers and Eagles will open their season on Oct. 15. 
    
On the Men’s side, Findlay will look to win their sixth consecutive conference title. The Great Midwest Male Scholar Athlete of the year Tim Stollings returns for the Oilers for his senior season. During the 2021-22 season, Stollings accumulated a number of accolades including All-American honors in the 50-yard freestyle, 100-yard butterfly, 100-yard backstroke, 200-yard medley relay, 400 yard medley relay, and 200-yard freestyle relay. Findlay also returns Freshman of the Year Camilo Marrungo, who was named an All-American in the 100 butterfly, 200 meter relay, and 200 freestyle relay.
    
Ashland placed second with a score of 1029.5 and Malone finished in seventh place. Chuck Malberti and Josh Hagan, both First-Team All-Conference awardees, return for the Eagles.

Findlay will open its season with a tri-meet against Ohio, Wingate, and Bellarmine in Athens, Ohio on Oct. 15. Ashland will also kick off its season on Saturday competing in the Oberlin Early Bird Classic.

The 2022-2023 Great Midwest/Mountain East Swimming and Diving Championship will be held in Canton, Ohio at C.T. Branin Natatorium.
