INDIANAPOLIS
 – The Great Midwest Athletic Conference is excited to announce Kentucky Wesleyan student-athlete Wiley Cain has been elected as the newest Division II Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) Chair through an announcement by the NCAA on Friday.

Cain was officially announced as the new chair during the NCAA Convention taking place this week.

“I am honored to represent the athletes of the Great Midwest and all DII as the newly-appointed chair of DII National SAAC,” said Cain. “I’m thankful for the position I’ve been put in by competing in such an amazing conference whose leadership has supported me in my path to this point. I’m excited for the path ahead and am committed to making the athletes of this great conference proud!”

Cain will take over the position at the conclusion of Saturday’s DII business session and serve as the committee’s chair through the 2023 NCAA Convention.

“We are proud and excited for Wiley to serve in the Chair role of the National SAAC,” said Great Midwest Commissioner Tom Daeger. “While participating in the National SAAC, Wiley has also been serving as the President of the Great Midwest SAAC and has provided tremendous service to his fellow student-athletes in the role. I look forward to seeing him similarly excel in this new opportunity and I am thankful to him for his willingness to serve.”

The Student-Athlete Advisory Committee serves as the primary governance arm representing student-athlete interests in Division II affairs. SAAC members serve as student-athlete liaisons that monitor and discuss happenings on campuses, within conference and at the national level.

A native of Eubank, Ky., Cain is a three-year member of the Kentucky Wesleyan football team. The junior is majoring in Biology on the Pre-Med track and received the sport’s inaugural Elite 23 Award for his excellence in the classroom during the 2020-21 academic year.
