INDIANAPOLIS – Sitting just one game out of first place, Hillsdale was tabbed with Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week honors.
 
The conference standings are still tight with seven teams all in the hunt for the conference lead. Walsh and Malone sit tied atop the standings at 7-2 with Hillsdale following behind at 6-3.

Ranked in the top 15 in field-goal percentage in the country, Hillsdale junior Patrick Cartier continued with his hot hand as the Chargers split their week in conference play against Ashland and Tiffin.

Shooting 59.2 percent from the field over two games, the reigning conference player of the year Cartier averaged 23.5 points to go along with 8.5 rebounds and four assists over two games this week.
 
In a 96-69 win over Tiffin, Cartier stuffed the stat sheet finishing with 31 points and 10 rebounds to record his first double-double of the season. The Wisconsin native leads the league in points per game this season with 22.5.

Cartier was also announced as one of the top 100 finalists for the Bevo Francis Award, a national award that recognizes the top player in Division II.
