INDIANAPOLIS – The gap at the top of the league standings widened just a bit as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Athlete of the Week honors were presented on Tuesday afternoon.
 
Nationally-ranked Ashland pushed its win streak to nine straight while building a three-game advantage in the league standings. The Eagles scored a win over Kentucky Wesleyan to remain unbeaten in Great Midwest action.
 
KWC and Hillsdale are both tied for second now at 6-2 while Walsh is hunting near the top with a 5-2 record. Ursuline is over .500 in the standings while Malone and Cedarville are both at 4-4 in the season to date.
 
COVID continues to affect contests in the schedule and programs are working together to re-schedule games within the remainder of the regular season.

The Cavaliers set a grueling pace as the league’s top scoring program this year (78.6 ppg) and secured a pair of impressive victories on the road at Hillsdale and Findlay in their most recent body of work.
 
Carter was at the forefront of Walsh’s exceptional performance as the former conference player of the year averaged a double-double with 20 points and 10 rebounds per contest. She added five assists per game, two steals and a block for a well-rounded stat line.
 
The senior guard/forward recorded a 17 point, 12-rebound double-double in the Thursday game vs. the Chargers, who were handed just their second league defeat. Carter finished 7-of-12 from the field and handed out five assists.
 
Against Findlay, Carter again was a scorer and facilitator while finishing with a game-high 25 points on 8-of-18 shooting. She connected on three of her four tries from long range and was perfect on all six free throw attempts.
 
Carter pulled down eight rebounds, including five on the offensive glass, to set her teammates up for second-chance scoring opportunities. She matched her assist total from the Chargers game and added a pair of blocks and steals as Walsh moved into double-digit wins for the season with its 10th.
 
Carter has scored in double figures in all games for the Cavaliers in 2021-22 and is currently second in the conference in scoring (18.5 ppg) and fourth in rebounding (9.2 rpg). Her field goal percentage is north of 57 percent and currently ranks third among qualified players.
