INDIANAPOLIS – After taking over the lead in the standings, Walsh was tabbed for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Basketball Athlete of the Week status following Tuesday’s announcement.
The parody is evident more than ever in the conference as teams battle for positioning in a very clouded pack. Walsh has a half-game lead on Hillsdale and Malone while Cedarville and Ashland are both at 4-2 lurking close behind.

Already one of the most prolific scorers in conference history, Straughter was a major contributor in a pivotal game that provided a little more clarity at the top of the regular season conference standings.
The Cavaliers bested nationally ranked No. 20 Hillsdale in a clash of the league’s best in Walsh’s lone game of the week.
Straughter helped his team win its fourth straight with a game-high 18 points as two other teammates joined him in double figures. The senior guard was a crisp 8-of-12 from the field and was one rebound shy of a double-double with nine.
Straughter also dished out four assists and was credited with a steal as the Cavaliers held the Chargers to a season-low point output (52 points).
He is currently averaging 14.5 points per game while knocking down a total of 35 three-pointers so far this season.
Straughter is a two time first-team all-conference selection and is closing in on 2,000 career points. He is currently at 1,876 points in his accomplished career, which began in 2017-18, Walsh’s first year as a conference member when Straughter was voted Great Midwest Freshman of the Year.
