INDIANAPOLIS – Ashland and Tiffin shared Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week for the South Division as announced on Monday afternoon.
Offensive Player of the Week
Erin Krupar
Ashland
Outside Hitter
Senior
East Sparta, OH (Canton Central HS)
Early in the season, Krupar achieved the career statistical milestone of 1,000 kills in her career and fast forward a couple weeks later, the Eagles find themselves in first place in the South Division.
The senior outside hitter has been nothing short of superb this year while leading the conference in total points and points per set while ranking second in kills per set.
Krupar’s body of work against Cedarville and Ohio Dominican in home wins was considerable as she tallied 5.25 kills per set and hit north of .400.
She also added 23 digs and put down three service aces as Ashland extended its win streak to four straight while staying undefeated against divisional opponents.
Krupar was near perfect against Cedarville with 22 kills on just 42 attempts for a hitting percentage of .476. The Eagles then handed red hot Ohio Dominican its first loss in the division. Krupar was one of three Ashland hitters with double-digit kill totals, leading all players with 21.
She is now averaging 4.16 kills per set and 4.73 points per set this fall.
Defensive Player of the Week
Sam Fallis
Tiffin
Defensive Specialist
Senior
Toledo, OH (Sylvania Southview HS)
Fallis helped lead the Dragons into the conference championship match earlier in the spring and after four wins in their last five matches, are finding their footing after a slow start to the season.
Tiffin is tied for second in the South Division with Ohio Dominican after beating Cedarville and falling against the Panthers. The Dragons also earned a non-conference win against West Liberty earlier in the week.
Fallis averaged 6.17 digs per set and established herself as the new league leader in that category, slightly gaining the edge over two-time North Division Defensive Player of the Week Alli Wiese, 5.48 to 5.45.
Fallis finished with 18 digs vs. West Liberty, 31 in the four-set win over Cedarville and 25 in four sets vs. ODU.
She leads all players in the Great Midwest with 274 digs and Tiffin is second among all teams in the conference in digs per set (17.74).
