INDIANAPOLIS – With a pair of victories locked in to start the conference schedule, Ohio Dominican and Lake Erie shared Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Players of the Week awards on Tuesday.

The conference points lead is shared by three teams including LEC, ODU and Walsh. Walsh maintained its unbeaten record at 5-0-1  this fall while Lake Erie and Ohio Dominican both stand at 3-1-1.

Nindi and the Panthers made a deep run into the conference tournament semifinals earlier in the spring while hosting the championship.

That strong finish has carried over to the fall as the seasoning on a talented roster is paying immediate dividends for a share of first place early in the conference standings.

Nindi has already scored four goals in five games, including a pair during the past week as the ODU upset No. 14 ranked Cedarville and defeated Malone to start the Great Midwest schedule.

With all scoring coming in the second half, Nindi drilled the first goal against the Yellow Jackets in the 55th minute. That would be one of his five shots taken and three of those were on target. The Panthers would close it out with the game winner near the end of the second half.

Ohio Dominican scored twice in the second half against Malone for a shutout win. Nindi delivered his second goal of the week in unassisted fashion in the 87th minute. He already ranks second in the league in both goals (4) and points (8) while pacing all players in shots on goal (10).

The reigning conference defensive player of the year for the spring season helped the Storm go on the road for an important six points to begin the Great Midwest tour.
Wiemann and the defense held strong against a high-scoring Findlay squad in a 2-1 win and pitched a shutout against preseason favorite Tiffin on Saturday in a 1-0 final.

Lake Erie broke a 1-1 tie open in the 82nd minute as Ayden Von Essen delivered the heroics. The Oilers took a total of 14 shots during the game and Storm keeper Tom John was credited with seven stops.

Tiffin also managed 14 shots in the showdown against Lake Erie, a matchup of two national qualifiers from 2019.

Wiemann has started all 14 games for Lake Erie in his career after transferring in from UMass.
