INDIANAPOLIS – Leslie Schuemann has been elevated to the new role of Deputy Commissioner in the Great Midwest Athletic Conference following an official announcement by the league office this week.
Schuemann is in her third year as a member of the conference office staff entering the 2021-22 academic year, previously holding the title of Senior Associate Commissioner.
She also continues to carry the role of Senior Woman Administrator as the Great Midwest celebrates its 10-year anniversary as an active Division II conference.
”Leslie, who has proven time and again her value to the Great Midwest and Division II, has been a tremendous representative of the league office since her first day with the organization,” said Great Midwest Commissioner Tom Daeger. “Her contributions have never been more evident than during the past 18 months through this pandemic. I am thankful to Leslie for the service to our members and I look forward to seeing her excel in this new role.”
Schuemann’s considerable experience in conference, institutional, and national office settings have assisted her in making an immediate impact during the Great Midwest’s continued evolution.
She guides a number of league committees, including having recently led the league through a Strategic Plan development, while overseeing all compliance efforts of the league’s member institutions.
Schuemann helped create a bridge for student-athletes by creating an educational partnership with Game Plan and has provided additional professional development opportunities for administrators from member institutions through the Great Midwest Women’s Leadership Forum.
Schuemann, former Chair of the NCAA Division II Membership Committee, is also currently serving a four-year term as a member of the NCAA Division II Committee on Infractions.
