The top three place winners in each event have been recognized at the podium as part of the annual all-conference team from the Great Midwest Championships on May 5-7 at Owensboro, Ky., with Kentucky Wesleyan serving as host.

Awards for the 2021 spring season as a whole were voted upon by the coaches and the Elite 23 Award winner was also released.

The Great Midwest Women’s Track Athlete of the Year vote from the coaches was a tie between Tiffin sprinter Rajiah Andrews and Malone mid-distance standout Mackenna Curtis-Collins.

The Great Midwest Field Athlete of the Year was Walsh junior Ndidiamaka Anaraodo, who soared to NCAA All-American honors with a third-place performance in the shot put. For the Cavaliers, Anaraodo earned a conference championship title with a school record, overall Great Midwest record and a new meet record distance of 16.38m in Owensboro.

The Great Midwest Freshman of the Year was Findlay’s Paige Emnett as she established herself as a provisional qualifier in three different events, the discus and hammer throws and the shot put.

Emnett won a pair conference championship titles at the outdoor meet and helped the Oilers secure 26 points on their way to the championship team trophy. Emnett ranked top 25 in Division II in both shot put and the discus throw.

Great Midwest Coach of the Year honors went to Findlay’s Blaine Maag as the Oilers were crowned team champions in Owensboro. He had seven women’s student-athletes earn first team all-conference honors and conference pole vault champion Savannah Amato proceeded to become an All-American in Michigan.
