Softball Players of the Week (May 6)

INDIANAPOLIS - Hillsdale and Trevecca earn the final Great Midwest Player and Pitcher of the Week honors of the regular season announced Thursday morning.

Adding five wins in the final week of regular season, Trevecca clinched the regular season title and No. 1 seed in the championship tournament. The Trojans are 22-10 overall and 14-4 in the league. 

Hillsdale added four wins last week to finish the regular season at 29-15 overall and 17-5 in conference play. The Chargers secured the No. 2 seed in the eight-team tournament bracket. 

Rounding out the rest of the championship bracket is No. 3 Malone, No. 4 Tiffin, No. 5 Findlay, No. 6 Ohio Dominican, No. 7 Ursuline and No. 8 Cedarville.

The tournament is being held in Findlay at Marathon Diamonds with games beginning today at 10 a.m. ET.

The Chargers started off the week with sweeping Ohio Valley (6-1, 11-0) then split series with Findlay (7-2, 5-11) and Ohio Dominican (7-1, 1-3) later in the week. 

On the week, Catron batted .500 (7-14) including four doubles and two home runs. She batted in four runs. 

The senior leads the league in doubles with 19 and is tied for first in home runs with 14 on the season.

Trevecca closed out the regular season sweeping series with Ohio Dominican (6-2, 1-0) and Lake Erie (4-0, 8-3), and splitting a series with Kentucky Wesleyan (1-0, 1-3). 

Hall went 3-0 on the week, pitching three complete games, with two being shutouts. She pitched 21 total innings, striking out 14 batters, only allowing two earned runs, while not walking a single batter over the course of the three games. 

The senior posted a .67 ERA and an opponent hitting percentage of .218 on the week. 

On the season, Hall has pitched 97 innings, striking out 60 batters. She has an 11-7 record heading into the conference tournament.
