INDIANAPOLIS - In the final full week of the regular season, Ohio Valley and Tiffin earn Great Midwest Men’s Soccer Player of the Week honors announced Tuesday afternoon.
The Ohio Valley Fighting Scots were crowned regular season champions after a perfect 8-0 season in conference play. They also earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament with quarterfinals set for Saturday, April 24. OVU as well as No. 2 Cedarville, No. 3 Tiffin and No. 4 Lake Erie will all host quarterfinal matches. Their respective opponents are No. 8 Walsh, No. 7 Kentucky Wesleyan, No. 6 Findlay and No. 5 Ohio Dominican.
The four remaining teams will advance to the semifinals in Columbus on Thursday, April 29, with the championship match set to follow on Saturday, May 1.

The top seeded Fighting Scots finished the regular season with three games last week, defeating Malone (3-0), Trevecca (3-0) and Kentucky Wesleyan (6-2). Senior forward Juan Hoyos led the team with four goals and one assist on the week.
Against Malone, Hoyos scored in the 73rd minute off an assist from Carlos Barcia. Against Trevecca, Hoyos assisted on the first goal of the match and scored the final goal in the 83rd minute, assisted by Javier Martin. He capped off the week with two goals in the win over KWC.
Hoyos ties for first in the league in goals with nine on the season and leads the conference in points with 20.

Tiffin defeated Lake Erie and Findlay by identical 3-2 overtime scores last week to clinch the No. 3 seed in the conference tournament.
Junior midfielder George McCarthy led the Dragon’s defense that allowed only five shots on goal against Lake Erie and four against Findlay.
The Tiffin defense has only allowed 12 goals all season, allowing an average of 1.5 goals per match while scoring an average of 2.75 goals per match.
