Men's Soccer Players of the Week (April 13)

INDIANAPOLIS - The top two teams in the conference standings took home Great Midwest Men’s Soccer Player of the Week honors on Monday with Lake Erie securing offensive honors and Ohio Valley earning defensive honors.

Ohio Valley is a perfect 5-0 in conference play, while Lake Erie is 5-2 in the league as both have earned 15 points to tie for first in the standings.

The Storm have won two straight after taking down Kentucky Wesleyan 6-0 on Saturday. Freshman forward Henrique Santos played the best match of his young career, scoring three goals on four shots, while assisting on another goal. 

Santos scored his first two goals in the first period, assisted by Ayden Von Essen and Arthur Lucas. He completed the hat trick in the second period with an unassisted goal in the 60th minute of play.

Lake Erie finishes the regular season at Tiffin on Thursday and at home against Cedarville on Saturday.

Ohio Valley added two more wins on the week to remain undefeated in conference play. The Fighting Scots shut out Ohio Dominican 2-0 then defeated Findlay 4-1. Santiago Rojas posted his second shutout of the season with three saves on three shots on goal against ODU. He added one more save in the win over Findlay. 

Rojas has played in goal 450 of 463 total minutes this season for Ohio Valley. He has recorded 16 saves while only allowing five goals and has a save percentage of .762 on the year. 

The Fighting Scots are scheduled to face Kentucky Wesleyan and Trevecca this week as the conference championship tournament approaches.
