INDIANAPOLIS – Top-10 record book efforts landed Hillsdale and Tiffin the new set of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week honors as announced on Monday.

Track Athlete of the Week
Ryan Thomsen
Hillsdale
Multis
Senior
Escondido, CA (Calvin Christian HS)

Thomsen starred in the decathlon for the Chargers at the Hillsdale Invitational with a narrow first-place finish over conference indoor champion Keandre Marlow of Findlay.

Both Thomsen and Marlow recorded provisional point totals in the event with Thomsen, a fifth-year senior, with a win resulting from 6,486 points.

It was a career-high point total in the multis for Thomsen and it ranks second all-time in conference history only behind Findlay’s Trey Everett in the outdoor event.

Thomsen won the long jump and shot put while finishing second in the 1,500m run, javelin, pole vault, discus and high jump.

Field Athlete of the Week
Cameron Burrows
Tiffin
Jumps
Senior
Sandusky, OH (Perkins HS)

At the Flames Invitational hosted by Lee, Burrows scaled new heights with an automatic qualifying mark in the high jump over the weekend.

The senior cleared 2.15m (7’ 0.5”) to finish first of 14 competitors. He passed last week’s top field athlete Adam Bouchard of Kentucky Wesleyan, for the top season mark in high jump this spring.

Burrows also tied for the second-highest attempt in conference history and ranks second in Division II only behind Texas A&M Commerce’s Ushan Perera.

Burrows has the overall conference record in high jump set at the 2019 NCAA Championships (2.17m) and five of the top 10 best performances in conference history.
