INDIANAPOLIS – Malone and Tiffin shared spoils for the first selections of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week as released on Wednesday morning.

It was a clean sweep for the Malone senior standout during the outdoor season as men’s track athlete of the meet at the conference championship meet in Cedarville and track athlete of the year as decided by the league’s coaches.
 
Schaub has ridden the coattails of his indoor success to a very strong start in the outdoor segment as he set a new conference record in the 5K run.
 
Schaub debuted at the Clyde Littlefield Texas Relays in Austin and finished fourth in a strong field predominantly consisting of Division I competitors.
 
He ran a 14:17.60 in the event, about five seconds faster than the pace previously held by Davis & Elkins’ Emeric Arnaud set at the 2019 Duke Invitational.
 
Among all provisional qualifiers in Division II, Schaub currently ranks ninth.

Curtiss was also making his outdoor debut after landing NCAA Championship runner-up honors in the shot put in Birmingham, Ala.
 
Both Curtiss and teammate, indoor national champion Ralph Casper auto qualified in outdoor shot put at the Yellow Jacket Collegiate Invitational hosted by Cedarville.
 
They are two of the three auto qualifiers so far in Division II this spring.
 
Curtiss won the event with a distance of 19.78m (64’ 10.75”) on his fifth and final attempt. That distance ranks fifth all-time in conference history.
