Women’s Soccer Players of the Week (March 23)

INDIANAPOLIS – Trevecca Nazarene and Ohio Valley both saw significant gains with points in the league standings as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Soccer Players of the Week were announced on Tuesday.
 
Both the Trojans and Fighting Scots are tied with seven conference points in the standings going into the new week with two wins and a tie. Walsh is in solo third while there is a logjam in fourth with Findlay, Ohio Dominican and Tiffin, tied at four points apiece.
 
The top eight teams in the conference standings will eventually qualify for the conference championship tournament to conclude the spring season.

The Trojans handed Tiffin their first loss and salvaged a hard-earned one point in the league standings vs. co-preseason favorite Findlay through a tie in a very successful week.
 
Now in a share for first place with Ohio Valley, Trevecca will look to score even more points on the road this week at Malone and Ursuline.
 
Legg scored twice for the Trojans in less than a 10-minute span to help defeat Tiffin by a final count of 4-0.
 
She scored first during the tail end of the opening half in the 34th minute before scoring shortly after the second half whistle in the 46th minute. Both of her goals were assisted by teammate Madison Carby.
 
The Trojans took 14 shots in that game as Legg, a starting forward, scored on the only shots she attempted.

The Fighting Scots racked up six conference points by virtue of a home win against Cedarville and a road victory at Lake Erie with Kanto leading the way defensively.
 
In her first year with OVU’s reinstated program, the junior keeper has already logged 290 minutes and given up just one goals for a GAA of just 0.31.
 
This past week saw her record four combined saves as she faced a total of nine shots against the Yellow Jackets and Storm.
 
Kanto was credited with her second shutout of the spring vs. Cedarville after also holding Tiffin scoreless in the season opener.
 
Her save percentage is also at .889 this spring, currently top 5 among all conference keepers.
