Softball Players of the Week (March 2)

INDIANAPOLIS -  With the majority of Great Midwest teams competing last weekend, Cedarville and Hillsdale earn conference weekly honors, announced Tuesday morning.

Cedarville and Hillsdale both added three more wins to their records, while Findlay and Trevecca both picked up a pair of wins.

The Yellow Jackets went 3-1 on the week, with wins over Quincy (8-5), Southern Indiana (5-4) and Notre Dame College (7-2). Cedarville’s lone loss of the weekend came to Ferris State (2-7). 

Flaugher was outstanding at the plate throughout the weekend, batting .429 (6-14). The sophomore totaled three homeruns, four runs and seven RBI. She had a slugging percentage of 1.07. 

In the first game of the weekend against Quincy, Flaugher had two hits, including a seventh inning homerun. She had two RBI and one sacrifice hit. In Saturday’s first game against Southern Indiana, Flaugher had two hits, three RBI and scored one run. She once again homered in the seventh inning. In the later game on Saturday against NDC, Flaugher homered to left field in the fifth inning to score two runs.

Weidinger earned back-to-back Player of the Week honors, after a 3-0 week for the right handed pitcher. Weidinger pitched two complete games last weekend, including 7-0 shutouts over both Glenville State and Charleston. In the game against Glenville State, Weidinger only gave up two hits and two walks, while striking out eight batters. 

Against Charleston, Weidinger had similar numbers in the circle, giving up only two hits and one walk, with eight strikeouts. Later that day, Weidinger came in to pitch three innings, earning the 4-3 win over West Virginia State. She faced 12 batters, striking out four and giving up three hits and one run. 

Weidinger has a 1.60 ERA through 43 innings pitched so far this season, with a record of 6-2 in the circle.
