Tiffin Falls in Atlantic Region Championship

3.16.21

COLUMBUS, Ohio - Following a conference title and a memorable run through the NCAA Atlantic Region Championship bracket, Tiffin's historic season came to an end in the Sweet 16 on Monday night as the Dragons fell to top-seeded Charleston 82-52.

The Dragons were outshot 46 to 30 percent from the floor and 47 to 19 percent from three. Tiffin was forced into 16 turnovers, while Charleston only turned the ball over nine times as a team.

Although Tiffin was able to make several second-half comebacks throughout the postseason, foul trouble and turnovers made it too difficult for the Dragons to come back against Charleston.

Charleston was also more rested down the stretch as they received a first round bye in the regional tournament, while Tiffin has played six games in the last two weeks.

Jada Tate was the lone player in double figures for the Dragons with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Aarion "Oni" Nichols contributed eight points and 11 rebounds.

Nichols and Walsh's Sha Carter were both named to the all-tournament team.

The Dragons end the season 18-9 with the program's first Great Midwest championship and first regional tournament appearance. Tiffin's appearance in the Sweet 16, marks the first for a Great Midwest women's basketball program.
