INDIANAPOLIS - The American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) named its second Division II National Player of the Week this season, as announced Wednesday afternoon.

Hillsdale's Karoline Shelton was named the Sports Imports/AVCA DII Player of the Week, following another outstanding showing from the junior.

Shelton is the third player in Great Midwest Athletic Conference history to earn AVCA Player of the Week honors. She joins teammate Allyssa Van Wienen, who won the weekly award in 2019, and Cedarville's Abby Shelton, who won the award in 2016. 

Shelton earned Great Midwest Offensive Player of the Week honors in the first and second weeks of the season, as she has led the Chargers to a 4-0 record thus far. 

The outside hitter averaged 4.71 kills per set, as the Chargers defeated Malone in three sets and Walsh in four last week.

Against Malone, Shelton connected for 12 kills, with a hitting percentage of .458. She also contributed a team-best four service aces.

In the win over Walsh, Shelton had a career-high 21 kills throughout four sets, with a hitting percentage of .364. Shelton also demonstrated her abilities on the defensive side of the ball with 19 digs in that match. 

Shelton currently ranks second in kills per set with 4.23 and third in hitting percentage at .370 among  Great Midwest competitors.
