INDIANAPOLIS - Malone and Hillsdale defeated Ashland in dual meets over the weekend, earning a pair of Great Midwest Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week awards.
The Malone men’s and women’s teams opened their season at future Great Midwest member, Ashland, for a dual meet Friday evening. The women won by one point, 122-121. The men won by a much larger margin, 160-75.
The Hillsdale women’s swimming and diving team then headed to Ashland for a dual meet on Saturday. Hillsdale beat Ashland by a score of 125-101, to improve to 6-0 on the season.
Men’s Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week

Fabian Loewe won two individual events on Friday and swam a leg in a winning relay, to help Malone to the victory. Loewe won the 100 breaststroke with a time of 1:00.29 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:18.86.
The sophomore joined teammates, Ezra Ferguson, Thomas Hooper and Braden Knoch to win the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:40.93.
The Pioneers will head to Notre Dame College for their next meet on Friday, February 12.
Women’s Swimming and Diving Athlete of the Week

Leah Tunney won two individual events and was part of a winning relay team, to help Hillsdale to the team win over Ashland.
Tunney won the 200 freestyle with a time of 1:58.03 and touched first in the 100 backstroke with a time of 1:00.05.
Joining teammates Taylor Boyle, Emma Rao and Katherine Heeres, the Chargers A-relay team won the 200 medley relay in 1:52.03.
Hillsdale will travel to Canton, Ohio on Saturday, February 13 for a twi-meet with Malone and Notre Dame College.
