INDIANAPOLIS – Following a strong dual win on the mat over No. 4-ranked West Liberty, 12th-ranked Findlay was selected for Great Midwest Athletic Conference Wrestling Athlete of the Week honors on Tuesday.

In a 19-18 final in favor of the Oilers on Sunday, Wimer produced a crucial major decision at 157 pounds to help secure the match over a tough West Liberty program.
 
The reigning NCAA champion, Super Region 3 Wrestler of the Year and Great Midwest Wrestler of the Year, remains ranked first in his weight class in the most recent NWCA/Intermat listing.
 
Wimer delivered bonus points in a big spot with the Oilers leading 12-3 at the time to the Hilltoppers.
 
The senior defeated Jonah Smith, 13-3, after leading 8-3 going into the final period. The Oilers are bound for Indianapolis later this week for the Midwest Classic on Dec. 18-19.
