Volleyball Players of the Week – South Division (Nov. 9)

INDIANAPOLIS – Division leader Ashland swept both Great Midwest Athletic Conference Volleyball Players of the Week honors for the South Division as announced on Tuesday afternoon.
 
All six postseason seeds have been decided as the end of the regular season approaches. Hillsdale has secured the overall top seed and the North Division crown and will receive one of the two first-round byes in the quarterfinals.
 
Ashland is closing in on the outright South Division title, already having locked in a share with a handful of matches remaining in the league.
 
Findlay and Walsh have also clinched postseason bids in the North Division while the South Division is represented additionally by Trevecca Nazarene and Ohio Dominican.
 
Offensive Player of the Week
Erin Krupar

The Eagles are closing in on a South Division trophy while also earning a quarterfinal-round bye in the upcoming conference tournament.
 
Krupar was dominant in AU’s most recent stretch against Cedarville and Ohio Dominican with both wins coming on the road.
 
The senior finished with 36 kills and 30 digs in seven total sets. Krupar hit .240 while also contributing five service aces, four blocks and a pair of assists.
 
Krupar leads the league in points per set (5.05) and is second in kills per set.
 
Defensive Player of the Week
Katie Thompson

Sophomore
Independence, OH (Padua Franciscan HS)
 
Thompson’s name has become a regular appearance on the player of the week list in the South for her defensive efforts.
 
The sophomore has taken over the league lead in digs per set with 5.36 while exceeding her season averages by a significant margin in the wins vs. Cedarville and Ohio Dominican.
 
Thompson posted a total of 58 digs and averaged 7.25 per set while opponents only hit a combined .083 against the Ashland defense.
