Official D2CCA Release
INDIANAPOLIS – It was a successful year on the pitch for Great Midwest Athletic Conference teams as six student-athletes were officially named to the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) All-Midwest Region Team for women’s soccer.
The postseason is officially in the books for Great Midwest programs as the NCAA Championship bracket moves into the region finals later this week. Ashland and Cedarville both represented the Great Midwest in the Midwest Region field with an AQ and at-large selection to the national tournament.
A total of 26 student-athletes from either the Great Midwest, Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) or Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC), were named to the first or second team.
Three standouts were named to the first team while three more earned status on the second team. The composition included (4) forwards, (4) midfielders, (4) defenders and (1) goalkeeper in addition to the Midwest Region Player of the Year (Kiki Sauceda, Indianapolis) for the 2021 campaign.
Named to the first team were both hailing from the NCAA Championship-qualifying teams, Bailey Clark and Tori Baker of Ashland and Brooke Ackley from Cedarville. Clark lifted the Eagles to the conference tournament title with an overtime golden goal and Baker was voted as the Great Midwest Defensive Player of the Year.
Ackley had been named Great Midwest Goalkeeper of the Year and had a great effort against region top seed Grand Valley State with some tough saves in the Yellow Jackets’ first-round game.
Kentucky Wesleyan forward Madisyn Hunt has a pair of Great Midwest Offensive Player of the Year awards under her belt as she was named to the D2CCA All-Midwest Region Second Team. Also joining her was Tiffin forward Kristen Dickison and Findlay defenseman Alyssa Stark.
Baker and Dickison were also recently named to the CoSIDA Academic All-District First Team. All D2CCA first-team award winners will be placed in consideration for the next step of voting for All-American honors.
The Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA) encourages and promotes Division II athletics and high standards of sportsmanship as important elements of higher education. The CCA is a key communications link among the conferences as they discuss
