Official CoSIDA Release
INDIANAPOLIS – Three Great Midwest Athletic Conference men’s soccer student-athletes each earned a spot on the College of Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-District Team for the 2021 season.
Representing District 4 on the first team in Division II was Tiffin’s Joel Daly, Ashland’s Justin Libertowski and Cedarville’s Jonny Stephens.
Stephens is a senior defender for the Yellow Jackets who is majoring in Civil Engineering with a cumulative 3.85 GPA. Libertowski is a graduate student forward for the Eagles who has a 3.56 GPA currently pursuing his MBA. Daly is also a senior forward; he is majoring in International Business and he has a 3.84 GPA.
The Great Midwest claimed two of the three forward positions on the ballot and all three of the selected individuals were also respective all-conference performers as voted by the league’s head coaches.
Libertowski and Stephens were first team all-conference picks for the Eagles and the Yellow Jackets. Daly was top 10 in the conference in both goals and points to serve as the lead in Tiffin’s offensive flow while also earning the title of league leader in shots per game (3.80).
Stephens was an integral part in leading Cedarville back to the NCAA Championship in Super Region 3 for the second straight time while Libertowski netted nine goals and five assists for a total of 23 points in Ashland’s first season as a Great Midwest member institution.
All three individuals are now eligible in the next step of voting for CoSIDA Academic All-American honors.
