INDIANAPOLIS – No. 19 Hillsdale sweeps the Great Midwest Volleyball Players of the Week awards for the North Division after earning a share of the division title during recent league competition.

The Chargers bounced back from a Tuesday loss to nationally ranked Ferris State with two straight-set victories over conference foes Malone and Walsh.
 
Mertz pitched in on offensively while averaging 11 assists per set over three matches and totaling 77 assists for the week. The senior also added five kills and two service aces to her week’s tally helping Hillsdale clinch at least a share of the North Division title.
 
This is Mertz’ second time being named Great Midwest Player of the Week for the North Division this season. The Chargers return to action for their lone matchup this week on Friday against Findlay.

For the fourth time this season and for the second straight week Hillsdale’s Wiese has been named Great Midwest Defensive Player of the Week for her efforts in the back row. 
 
Wiese contributed 5.89 digs per set over three matches and nine sets for the week. The freshman led the way with 53 total digs, including a team-high 18 against Malone.
 
The Chargers will continue their quest to stay unbeaten in the conference with three Great Midwest contests left in the regular season.
