Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week (Nov. 12)

INDIANAPOLIS – Findlay’s men and Hillsdale’s women were selected for the most recent pairing of Great Midwest Athletic Conference Swimming & Diving Athletes of the Week honors announced on Friday.
 
Men’s Athlete of the Week
Adam Hornak
Findlay
Sophomore

Hornak and the Oilers were on the move for a busy weekend while taking on Oberlin and Cleveland State in a tri-meet format and then facing UIndy in a head-to-head competition.
 
The sophomore all-conference performer competed in seven different events while coming away with wins in the 200 butterfly (1:53.03) and the 200 freestyle (1:40.70).
 
He also was second in the 100 butterfly against UIndy with a time of 50.60 seconds and was runner-up again as a member of the 800 freestyle relay (6:51.69). Hornak also was fourth in the 200 freestyle and 100 butterfly while coming in fifth during the 200 medley relay.
 
Hornak has been a big part of the Oilers’ success at the combined conference championship meet with the Mountain East Conference. In the team scoring over the two meets, UF defeated Oberlin by a score of 159-42.
 
Women’s Athlete of the Week

The Chargers defeated an opponent they will see in the pool at the combined conference championship meet in Canton, Ohio, Notre Dame (OH) from the Mountain East.
 
Hillsdale remained unbeaten in the 2021-22 campaign against opponents in dual competition with a decisive point total of 139-63.
 
Clifford earned her second conference athlete of the week award of the season with a strong performance that included two individual event wins and a relay victory.
 
Clifford won the 200 IM in 2:15.02, the 200 butterfly in 2:09.68 and was a part of the first-place finishing 200 medley relay (1:53.50).
