Volleyball Players of the Week – South Division (Oct. 26)

INDIANAPOLIS – Weekly South Division honors have been handed out to both Trevecca Nazarene and Ohio Dominican by the Great Midwest Athletic Conference for volleyball on Tuesday.

Trevecca Nazarene traveled into northeast Ohio while handing Great Midwest neighbors Malone and Walsh losses this weekend in cross divisional action.
 
For the weekend, the junior setter McDaniel recorded 9.75 assists per set in eight combined sets to help the Trojans to two victories.
 
McDaniel started the weekend with a bang. The Hendersonville, Tenn., native tallied 42 assists to go along with 17 digs and 10 kills in Trevecca’s five-set win on Friday against Walsh. On Friday, the junior also added a .381 hitting percentage while finishing with 36 more assists in a straight set sweep over Malone.
 
McDaniel also reached a statistical milestone for the Trojans becoming the second player in program history during the Division II era to reach 2,000 career assists.
 
The Trojans are back in action at home on Friday hosting Cedarville.

The Panthers took care of business this weekend tallying two conference wins on Friday and Saturday against Ursuline and Lake Erie.
 
Shoup helped that effort on defense notching 4.43 digs per set over the weekend. That came as part of a two-day performance in which the sophomore tallied 31 digs total. Nineteen of them came in Friday’s straight-set win over Ursuline.
 
Shoup also came in clutch at the service line netting five service aces between the two contests this weekend. This is her third defensive weekly honor for the current season while representing the South Division.
