Men's Soccer Players of the Week (Oct. 19)

INDIANAPOLIS – Led by stellar performances from the latest Great Midwest Athletic Conference Men’s Soccer Athletes of the Week, both Findlay and Cedarville picked up a pair of wins this weekend on the pitch.

The Oiler men’s soccer team posted a 2-0-0 record this weekend against conference foes Tiffin and Malone.
 
In Findlay’s win over rival Tiffin, Lauron led the way producing all of the Oilers’ offense on his way to a hat trick to beat the Dragons on Thursday night, 3-0.
 
The Grove City, Ohio, native followed up that performance with more offense on Saturday in Findlay’s win over Malone. The sophomore broke a scoreless tie in third minute off an assist from teammate Bjoern Gilles.
 
Lauron is now tied for the league lead in total points (19) with Ashland’s Justin Libertowski. He is the current league leader in goals this year with nine. He also has three game-winning goals, which is tied for the league lead.
 
Lauron finished the weekend with four goals and was responsible for both game winners.

Cedarville notched two wins this weekend against No. 21 Lake Erie and Ashland to extend its win streak to five. The Yellow Jackets are currently in the receiving votes category in the United Soccer Coaches Poll.
 
On Thursday, the Yellow Jackets took down league-leading and nationally ranked Lake Erie, then ranked No. 21 in Division II. Zacharias had four saves while allowing just one goal in the 2-1 win on the road.
 
Coming off the big win, the junior pitched a shutout against Ashland in a 1-0 overtime win.
Zacharias notched nine saves in the win over the Eagles.
 
Cedarville now sits at 9-2-1 on the season and ranks among the top programs in Super Region 3.
