INDIANAPOLIS – Malone and Findlay had standout student-athletes selected as Great Midwest Athletic Conference Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week on Tuesday.

Several teams were able to compete at the Youngstown State Invitational on Friday while Findlay hosted Ohio Dominican for a dual on Saturday. It was the first indoor track and field competition around the league since Tiffin hosted an invitational back on Dec. 4 of 2020.

Women’s Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Mackenna Curtis-Collins
Malone
Distance
RS Junior
Mansfield, OH (Lexington HS)

After cementing her status as back-to-back Great Midwest Cross Country Runner of the Year, Curtis-Collins hasn’t skipped a beat as the Pioneers made their indoor season debut at the Youngstown State Invitational.

The distance phenom was the winner of the mile on Friday as she set a school record with an NCAA provisional time of 4:52.61.

Curtis-Collins was first in a field 20 competitors, including multiples from Walsh, Lake Erie, and incoming member Ashland. Her time nearly cracked the conference top 10 list, just a few seconds behind a 4:49.90 pace courtesy of Sarah Berger (Walsh).

It was her first competition since winning the women’s conference cross country championship 6K hosted by Tiffin on Oct. 24 with a time of 21:24.20.

This is her first conference weekly honor in the sport of indoor track and field.

Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Morgan England
Findlay
Pole Vault
Sophomore
Bloomville, OH (Seneca East HS)

It was a celebratory Findlay sweep in the pole vault as England mirrored what Gabe Makin accomplished on the men’s side.

England actually edged out her teammate Lindsey Kluesener via tiebreaker at the Youngstown State Invitational as the sophomore tandem both put their names in the top 10 of the conference’s all-time performance list.

England and Kluesener both cleared 3.92m (12’ 10.25”) with England being declared the winner.

England and Kluesener both are tied for fifth as 3.92m was met for the fourth time in conference history. They are each tied for fourth in the current Division II performance list among provisional qualifiers.

The Oilers also have three different competitors in the Great Midwest top 10 list for pole vault including England, Kluesener (3x) and Meadow Cromer.

This is England's second conference indoor weekly honor after also earning a nod in 2019.
