Walsh earned the No. 3 seed in the Midwest Region as they received the league’s automatic bid following Saturday’s title win.

This marks the second appearance for Walsh in the NCAA Championship, as they appeared in the 2019 bracket as a No. 7 seed after automatically qualifying as the conference champion.

The NCAA Selection Show included 23 teams with automatic qualification as conference champions and 41 at-large bids by the committee.

The Midwest Regional will be hosted by top seed Drury, the Great Lakes Valley Conference champions, in Springfield, Mo.

In a rematch of last year’s first round game, Walsh drew No. 6 Lewis who received an at-large bid from the GLVC. Lewis finished the season 19-12 and 14-6 (GLVC).

Walsh carries an overall record of 28-2 and are on a 23-game win streak heading into the extended tournament as Great Midwest Champions.

Seven eight-team regionals will be played on-campus sites March 13, 14, and 16. The Atlantic region will have two four-team sites as a result of a split regional with men’s basketball.  Games will be played March 13, 14, and 17, with the championship game played at the highest remaining seed.

The 2020 NCAA Division II Women’s Elite Eight will be held at the Birmingham CrossPlex in Birmingham, Alabama, March 24, 25, and 27.
