Walsh’s Sha Carter Named D2CCA All-American

INDIANAPOLIS – The awards continue to pour in for Walsh sophomore Sha Carter who was most recently named to the 2019-20 Division II Conference Commissioners Association Women’s Basketball All-American Honorable Mention Team.
 
After being named a First Team All-Midwest Region selection, Carter was eligible for All-American honors which is voted on by the members of D2SIDA, NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association. 
 
A total of 22 were named to the All-American Teams, with five being named to the first and third teams. Ties in the voting resulted in six being named to both the second and honorable mention teams. 
 
Carter led the conference in scoring at 18.8 points per game while shooting a league-best .579 percent from the floor.  
 
The Great Midwest Player of the Year ranks in the top 20 in all of Division II in both field goals made and field goal percentage. Carter scored in double figures in all 30 games and finished the season with seven double-doubles. 
 
The guard/forward sits second in the conference in total steals with 64 (2.1 spg) and sixth in total rebounds with 220 (7.3 rpg). 
 
Carter has made her mark in the conference record books as she set the single season record for field goals made with 230 and ranks third all-time in single season points with 563 this past season. 
 
Carter helped lead Walsh to back-to-back G-MAC Championships and a second appearance in the NCAA Midwest Regional tournament as a No. 3 seed before the tournament was cancelled.
