Football Programs Publish Signing Day Classes

2.7.20

INDIANAPOLIS – National Signing Day for 2020 has come and gone as Great Midwest Athletic Conference institutions brought in talent from all over the country to shore up their rosters for the immediate future.

Specifically for football, it was a day of tradition as coaches waited for prospective student-athletes to turn in their paperwork and commit to their programs -- marking the culmination of a long and arduous process on the recruiting trail.

In all sports, Great Midwest member schools gradually released their signing day classes through social media channels and their websites as commitments became official.

The recruiting season is absolutely critical for programs as they look to build for the future, targeting prep prospects that fit the mold of their athletic and academic goals.

Tiffin is the defending conference champion in football and competed in the NCAA Championship Super Region 1 bracket. Ohio Dominican was also competing in the playoffs as the league’s representative in the inaugural America’s Crossroads Bowl Game.

The Dragons produced a record 51 signings on National Signing Day after running the table throughout the conference schedule with a perfect 7-0 record.

Ohio Dominican's finish in the top tier of the conference standings means the Panthers are still more than viable contenders after winning the title in 2017. The Panthers tallied a total of 16 signees after finishing 7-3 with a bowl game appearance vs. Truman State in December.

Findlay brought in 43 players from six states, including 32 in Ohio alone. Ballhawking DB Christopher Jefferson highlighted a strong season by the Oilers with All-American plaudits by multiple media organizations including the AP, D2CCA, Don Hansen and D2Football.com.

Known as Team 128 (128th team in the program’s history, Hillsdale’s incoming pool of talent features 27 newcomers. The average of the incoming class has a GPA of 4.10 and the Chargers are coming off their third consecutive winning season since joining the Great Midwest.

Lake Erie inked a total of 48 new student-athletes in the first official signing day class for head coach Reilly Murphy and his staff. The Storm blazed a trail in 11 different states to bring talent to Painesville after DL Justin Growel earned all region and All-American awards from various outlets.

Walsh reported 40 total commitments and hammered the surrounding area, reeling in 15 names within a 20-mile radius from campus in North Canton. The Cavaliers scored 35 of the 40 names from the state of Ohio and brought in three different transfers.

Excitement continues to brew down in Owensboro as head coach Craig Yeast signed 32 future Panthers to Kentucky Wesleyan. It was the most commitments received on NSD in the program’s history; positionally, the reported numbers were very balanced across the board at all skill positions.

The list continues to be updated for Alderson Broaddus with 17 reported at the time of release. The Battlers named Travis Everhart head coach back in December and has a strong pedigree coaching both sides of the ball.
